American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Westford to Take Place This Saturday

Family friendly fundraising walk benefiting the American Cancer Society.

WHAT: Hundreds of cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and teams of walkers from schools, companies, places of worship, and more will come together for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Westford.

WHEN: Saturday, June 20 beginning at 6:00 p.m. to Sunday, June 21, ending at 6:00 a.m.

Opening ceremony and a celebratory cancer survivors lap will happen at 6:00 p.m..

A touching Luminaria Ceremony, where candles are lit in honor and memory of locals who have battled cancer, will happen at 9:00 p.m..

WHERE: Stony Brook Middle School Track, 9 Farmer Way Westford, MA 01886

BACKGROUND:

The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Relay For Life events are community events where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times and raises funds for the American Cancer Society in the months leading up to the event.

Day of event registrations are accepted. Registration is free. The event is open to the public (unregistered participants) until 11:00 p.m.

Highlights include: Opening Ceremony and Survivor Lap (6:00 p.m.), Yoga (7:00 p.m.), Zumba (8:00 p.m.), Luminaria Ceremony (9:00 p.m.), Karaoke (10:00 p.m.).

Pizza, snacks, and drinks available for purchase.

Cancer survivors and their caregivers are welcome to join us for a Survivor and Caregiver Reception immediately following the Opening Ceremony. This meal is provided free of charge by Lowell General Hospital.
