Westford Girl Leads Way For Local Karate Awards

Samantha Reddington (pictured), age 6, from Westford, MA took home the Gold Medal in kumite (sparring) and the Bronze Medal in kata (forms) in the 5 to 6-year-old division at the 2012 Ruiz International Karate Tournament held on Sunday, March 5  in West Hempstead, NY.

Competing in the tournament were teams from the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Samantha trains twice a week under 5X National Champion, Sensei Eric Rossini, at along with the following One Stop participants who also received medals at the tournament.

  • Hayden Sorli, age 9, Sutton, MA – Gold in Kumite (sparring)
  • Ian Maher, age 11, Shrewsbury, MA – Silver in Kumite  (sparring)
  •  Malcolm Verrilli, age 10, Acton – Gold in Kumite (sparring)
  • Jake Verrilli, age 12, Acton – Bronze in Kata (forms)
  • Ellery Gleason, age 11, Concord – Bronze in Kumite (sparring)
  • Eric Rossini, age 42, Grafton – Silver in Men’s 18-34 middle weight Kumite (sparring)
  • Malcolm Verrilli, age 10, Acton (gold in kumite)
