‘An Evening with Robert Redford’ Postponed to July 9

Middlesex Community College has been notified that Robert Redford, the featured speaker at this year's Celebrity Forum, slated for Friday, June 20, at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, has to POSTPONE his appearance to Wednesday, July 9, due to conflicts with the movie he is currently filming, “A Walk in the Woods.”

Mr. Redford's filming schedule has been delayed, and while he will be unable to make Friday's appearance, he has rescheduled his visit to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9.

“While we were sorry to hear Mr. Redford would not be able to move forward with our planned June 20 event, he immediately affirmed his commitment to coming to the college, and without hesitation, provided us with the earliest possible date when he can still come to Lowell," said MCC President Carole Cowan. "He felt terribly about having to postpone his scheduled visit due to filming delays, but like a true professional, he immediately worked to honor his appearance, and we were very fortunate and grateful that he was able to still come so close to our original date."

All tickets for the June 20 event will be honored on July 9. Ticket-holders seeking refunds should request them through the location of purchase.  Those who purchased tickets by phone or online should call 866-722-8881 to obtain a refund.  Those who bought tickets at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium box office should process their refund in person during normal business hours. For box office hours visit www.lowellauditorium.com. The event is nearly sold out.

Any questions about the postponement may be directed to MCC via email at  CelebrityForum@middlesex.mass.edu.

Sponsorships for the event will automatically be transferred to the July 9 date. MCC's Dean of Advancement Dennis Malvers can be reached at 781-280-3514 for any questions.

Celebrity Forum 2014, “An Evening with Robert Redford,” will feature Redford, the acclaimed actor, director, environmentalist and Sundance Institute founder, discussing his career onstage with Patrick Cook, Executive Director of Public Affairs at Middlesex.

Redford, a Hollywood legend, has starred in such films as “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “The Sting,” “The Way We Were,” “Out of Africa,” “The Candidate” and, most recently, “All is Lost” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
