Bad News Was Supposed To Be Worse for Westford's Sonus
The Tech Park East-based company indicated drops in revenue from this time last year, but the drops were less than expected.

Last week in Tech Park East, there were some mixed results for Sonus Networks.
The Westford-based company announced its fourth quarter 2011 results in a conference call and there was positive and negative news for investors.
On the down side, the company reported that net income fall to $3.7 million over the quarter from $11.4 million the previous year, with total revenue from Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) dropping from last year’s 4Q total of $83 million to $74.3 million.

However, the downturn was actually less than projected, as the announcement beat expectations on revenue and GAAP earnings per share, which lost a cent per share from the same time last year.
Analysts project the company to make somewhere between $55 and $60 million during the first quarter of 2012.

Sonus stock prices fell after the revenue announcement and news that the company was closing its Ottawa office, but stock prices remain approximately $1.50 per share higher than their nadir around $2 per share in November.
