Bonnie Anderson Opens Piano Heritage Series

WESTFORD, MA: One of the PCA’s favorite instrumentalists Bonnie Anderson will present “Clara Shumann & Friends” on October 22, 2023 at 4pm, with a pre-concert talk at 3:15pm. Enjoy Anderson performing music by female composers and living composers from around the world. Hear stories and music by Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Cecile Chaminade, Margaret Bonds, Eliza Kats-Chernin, William Bolcom, Stephen Wood and Alexis French. All ages welcome! Tickets are $15 for members/seniors; $18 for non-members; $8 for teens and $5 for kids 12 and under. Snacks and beverages of your choice are welcome during the show. This event is the first of two in this season's Piano Heritage Series, the second on April 14, 2024 when Steve Zocchi brings his “Man vs. Piano” to the PCA stage. Also as part of the PCA’s Music offerings will be a Classical Guitar Series including Jérôme Mouffe (11/19), The Hampton Trio (2/25/24) and Thatcher Harrison (5/11). For the past 25 years, the non-profit PCA has brought the arts alive for residents of Westford and surrounding communities. Bonnie Anderson has a varied career as chamber and orchestral pianist, and piano soloist. She has collaborated with musicians from the Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic. Highlights include performing with Branford Marsalis and Christof Huebner on the Nantucket Island Musical Arts Society Series, recital with Joseph Foley at Houston’s River Oaks Chamber Unleashed Series, Music on the Hill Chamber Music Festival in Rhode Island, and concerts with her piano duo partner Stella Owen. Current projects include recitals with her Stone Arch Trio, videotaping music by female and living composers (Freya Project), and concerts with mezzo-soprano Lisa van der Ploeg. As orchestral pianist, Bonnie is principal pianist of the Vista Philharmonic Orchestra and Vista Chamber Players in Groton. She also performs as guest pianist with Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Lexington Symphony Orchestra, and Carlisle Chamber Orchestra. Bonnie most recently performed Rachmaninoff and Copland for the tuning concerts at Groton Hill Music Center. On the piano faculty at Phillips Andover Academy, Anderson attended the Juilliard School, Michigan State University, French Piano Institute in Paris, and received her Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University.
