10 Reasons I'm Excited for the Opening of the Westford Farmers Market
I'm market mama and, I admit, a little fanatic about the Westford Farmers Market. The market opens in a few days on Tuesday, June 21, and I have 10 reasons I'm excited for its opening. Read on.

It's been 234 days since the summer farmers market closed with the always spooktacular Halloween Dance Jam and only 4 days until it reopens on Tuesday, June 21 (but who's counting anyways?!?). Well, I am and have been since it closed. I'm a little fanatic about the farmers market. I can admit it.
But it's not only the fresh local produce, meat and variety of foods. It's the atmosphere and mood. I feel like it's one of the few times during a packed week of work, cleaning, children's activities, laundry, and more cleaning that I actually take a break. And I even manage to meet up with friends who I don't see most of the winter. That is why I'm excited for the market to open this week.
Here are a few more reasons:

- The reappearance of fresh, local produce. I'm so tired of bland winter veggies that traveled just a bit too long to get to my plate.
- Finding myself on the common surrounded by our community on one of those picture perfect summer days and realizing how happy I am to live in Westford.
- The Coop Troupe Puppet Theater is Emily Piper's newest creation this season and is going to be a blast to see children engaging in the arts at the market.
- The addition of Samira's Homemade to the summer market. Their jalapeno hummus and stuffed grape leaves are crave-worthy.
- Watching my 4-year old eat an entire container of raspberries while shopping the market - beats candy at the grocery store every time.
- Learning how to live more green - thank you Upcycle It! and the new Green Living on the Green education tent.
- Talking to Fred Farmer, the honey man. If you haven't stopped by to chat yet you must make it a stop on your next visit. Just be prepared to hang out awhile.
- I don't want to leave anybody out so I'll just say this: bread, meat, fish, bagels, eggs, cookies, fresh prepared meals, fruit, dips, dressings, Vermont cheese, chocolate sauce, and did I mention wine? Yup - local wine this season!
- Enjoying a fresh tomato and farm egg bagel sandwich for dinner with my husband after a long afternoon of hanging out at the market.
