A Libertarian's Endorsement

Vote for Jim Jarvie and Scott Hazelton

This April 30th, my name would’ve been one the choices on the ballot for Selectman in Westford.  However, I felt that this town is bigger than any one person’s ego, so when I noticed that there were three challengers vying to unseat two incumbents, I knew one of us would have to drop out of the race in order not to split the vote.

I called both Scott and Jim several times, because I wasn’t going to drop out if neither one shared my views of fiscal sanity, limited government, commitment to the town, and ardent defense of our civil liberties.

After talking to Jim, I knew the town could be electing a man, an Independent, with business experience as a procurer and also a man of character as a veteran.  He has kids in the school system, is committed to this town, and I think he would make a great Selectman.  There was no question that after talking to him both on the phone and in person; Jim had to be on the Board of Selectman.

So the only question that remained was, would I drop out for Scott, or not.  After a long conversation I knew what I had to do.

I found a man in Scott who had served Westford’s town government in several capacities already, served as Boy Scout leader, and has a son who is a marksman and who competes nationally, so I know Scott understood the lunacy of Article 30.  Scott is an economist, and not the Keynesian kind—the kind that has wrought market bubbles, stimulus, bailouts, takeovers and monetary easing, but the kind that understands correct monetary principles of sound money, balanced budgets and limited government interference.

It was abundantly clear, that I needed a lot more experience in local politics, to learn by serving on some other committees first, and that Jim and Scott had earned the right to unseat two incumbents who do not deserve re-election.  I felt no reservations the day I dropped out of the race

I call upon my fellow Libertarians in Westford (120+ strong!) to support Jim and Scott and unseat two statists who do not support your 2nd Amendment Rights, and who have no new answers or solutions to impending financial crises that are upcoming.

This Libertarian is voting for Jim Jarvie and Scott Hazelton.
