Boys U12 Div. 5 Soccer Team 6 takes 2nd Place at Commissioners Cup
Boys U12 Div. 5 Soccer Team 6 played in the Commissioners Cup last weekend and after outstanding performances in a 1-1, 0-0 and 2-2 game finishes in 2nd place!!

Westford's Boys U12 Team 6, coached by WA Varsity soccer players Anthony Zheng and Torsten Nilsson finished their regular season in 4th place with 4 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie, which earned them a spot to play in the Commissioners Cup in Woburn this past weekend. In their first game vs Lowell, a team that beat them 5 - 0 in the regular season, Westford posted an impressive 1 - 1 tie, with the sole goal made by Jonathan Shui. Facing the first place Melrose team in their second game, Westford put forth a tremendous effort both offensively and defensively, especially considering it was an 8am game. Westford kept it scoreless, ending with a 0 - 0 tie, thanks to some amazing saves by goalies Aditya Agrawal and Kevin Preiss. In their final game against Burlington, Westford tied 2 - 2, with breakaway goals made by Connor Fitzgerald and Jonathan Shui. The defense comprised of Jack Pappas, Eric Biciunas, Max Bombardieri, Derek Men, Jacob Moore and Akshay Bhat did an outstanding job in all three games. Although the scores were low, the offense was stellar, including Aditya Agrawal, Akshay Bhat, Connor Fitzgerald, Matt Keefer, Dan Le, Jack Pappas, Arjun Patil, Kevin Preiss, Brady Reddington and Jonathan Shui. Our goalies for the games were Kevin Preiss (3 halves), Aditya Agrawal (2 halves) and Akshay Bhat(1 half). The boys performed above and beyond their coaches expectations and showed just what can be accomplished with a "never-give-up" attitude. The team placed 2nd overall at the Commissioners cup. Coaches and parents are proud of their achievement.
