Curb Appeal is Everything
Curb appeal is everything when selling a home. If your home is for sale and you aren't getting the showings you had hoped for, step out to the curb and take a closer look at what you are selling.

I was driving through town yesterday while taking the opportunity to really notice some of the homes on the market. Curb appeal is a BIG DEAL when you are trying to sell. There are several things you can do to dress up your home for sale, most of which will not break the bank. Minor updates and changes can result in more showings and even a higher selling price. Here are some helpful hints for getting
Mow the lawn and trim the bushes especially the ones that block your windows and
diminish sunlight.
Purchase a new doormat.
Add a bright pot of flowers or even a small holiday tree on your front porch.

Replace the old tarnished doorknobs on your doors and polish or replace your house numbers.
Power-wash your driveway, sidewalk, and the exterior siding of your home.

Edge the grass around walks and trees plus turn the mulch in your planting beds.
Purchase a new mailbox. If your mailbox post is bent or crooked, replace that too.
Upgrade the outdoor lighting for a feeling of safety (yes-buyers drive by your home at night too) and to add dramatic effect.
Clean your gutters.
As for holiday lights and decorations on the lawn, the opinion of this Realtor is to keep it modest. If inflatable Christmas decorations are a must, pare it down to one. If you are fanatical about holiday lights, feel free to string a few on the trees but don't go crazy. Finally, a holiday wreath on the front door is fine too...just keep it tasteful.
