Meet Westford CAT's Interns from Westford Academy

Last month we welcomed two Westford Academy seniors into the station’s new internship program. Jackie Gallagher and Reed Peraner have been finishing up the last few weeks of their high school careers by going out into the community to shoot, edit and produce timely video for our local channels. 

In addition to the on location shoots, Gallagher, who will be attending Quinnipiac University in the Fall to study interactive digital design and film production graphic design, provided some key assistance in designing a new public service announcement for our channels. Gallagher designed all the backgrounds and images for our latest PSA while our staff focused on the animation. The PSA, which started playing this week, informs Comcast viewers of the channel changes happening in Westford on June 5^th.

Peraner, who will be studying film production and film studies at Hofstra University this Fall, particularly enjoyed following local producer Geoff Hall on a recent shoot through the renovated Abbot Mills. Peraner recorded the interview with developer Chris Yule which will be included in Hall’s first episode of Around Town.

Peraner, who spent a day at Westford CAT last year during Westford Academy’s Job Shadow Program said, “This internship is an awesome opportunity to get a feel for the television production environment, and having had prior experience here, I felt very welcomed. I love Westford CAT. I’m not even kitten,” jokes Peraner.

Both interns have found it extremely helpful to get exposure to all the equipment involved in recording and producing video for television and the internet. We can only hope that our next interns are as enthusiastic and competent and these two very special young people are.
