New Programs, New Training Announced

New local programs to watch this weekend on Westford CAT's public access channels, Comcast 8 and Verizon 35. And new training workshops begin October 4th. Sign up now!

If you are a homeowner, you’ll want to run right down to the Registry of Deeds and file a declaration of homestead to protect your property after watching State Rep. Jim Arciero’s latest episode of “From the Hill.” Arciero talks with State Register of Deeds, Richard Howe about his organization and the services they provide. Since taking office, Howe has overseen the efforts to provide online access to every document in the registry, dating as far back as the 1600’s. You can watch “From the Hill” this Friday at 2 p.m., or Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

It’s been a labor of love for these three friends, who share a common interest in keeping their neighbors aware of their town’s local history. Geoff Hall, Bob Spinozzi, and Newell Tillman launched their latest documentary last week, this time delving into the history of Forge Village.  Brought to life and into focus by the current efforts to renovate the Abbot Worsted Mill into 120 modern rental apartments, Geoff Hall hosts this latest episode of Museum Musings, a public access series produced by the Westford Historical Society.

Each man played his own part in producing this latest program.  Geoff Hall, naturally comfortable in front of the camera, is the host of the show and conducts the on-site interview with Chris Yule from Yule Development.  Bob Spinozzi provided the editorial direction to the project, while Newell Tillman put his efforts into post production, at first learning the latest version of Adobe Premiere, and then using his new skills to assemble the program and overlay the right pictures and graphics which add clarity to the efforts involved in this renovation.

While the camera follows Hall and Yule through the numerous sections of the property, viewers learn about the many challenging and interesting aspects of the project. You can watch “Forge Village History – A New Life for the Abbot Mill” on public access channels Comcast 8 and Verizon 35 tonight (Thursday) at 7 p.m., Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Also new on Westford CAT is “Westford Remembers,” the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony and Bench Dedication held on the Town Commons earlier this month. Westford CAT’s president, Ira Keltz, was on hand to capture the event on camera and came back to our studio to use iMovie to assemble his final program. You can watch the event on Westford CAT’s public access channels Comcast 8 and Verizon 35 tonight (Thursday) at 8:30 p.m., Friday at 10:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. For additional times, or to see our full schedule, go to www.westfordcat.org/tv-schedules.

And if any of these programs get you thinking that maybe you could start making your own video for television or the internet, then you’ll want to sign up for our next round of our free video production workshops, which will begin on Tuesday, October 4th at 6:30pm.  We have lots of new equipment to make your video production easy and fun. Call the station at 978-692-7152 or register online at www.westfordcat.org.
