Oh My Achy Back!

Feeling tight and stiff after the weekend storm? Maybe yoga can help...

If you’re feeling stiff and achy after hauling tree branches and shoveling snow
this weekend, it’s very likely that you have some tight muscles. Often when you
do activities that you normally don’t do (such as shoveling heavy, wet snow),
the muscles attached to your lower spine tighten up and stay tight – leading
to a feeling of tension throughout your entire body.

You may feel it as neck and shoulder pain, or even pain in your wrists or your feet. You may not have considered this, but Yoga might be just the thing to relieve some of that tension.

Studies have shown that Yoga increases flexibility, and helps reduce general aches
and pains associated with muscular tension.

Many people are afraid to try Yoga because they think they are not flexible
enough. In fact, most beginning students are pretty inflexible, and through the
practice of Yoga they find that they become more flexible and are able to do
things that they never thought they could when they started.
