Last month, Westford CAT’s studio set took on a mystical flair, complete with a crystal ball, a spinning wheel, and various other tools of the trade used daily by Westford’s newest psychic medium and magical practitioner, Yulia Applewood. When we talked with Applewood at the Aquarius Sanctuary Bookstore, she expressed an interest in starting a local television show so that she could share her knowledge of spirituality and everyday magic.
With a clear vision of the program she wanted to create, it only took Applewood a few weeks to transform her idea into a completed program, which is currently being shown on public access channels Comcast 8 and Verizon 35. “Folk Wisdom is an interview show that brings spirituality into everyday life,” says Applewood. “It’s for everyone.” Applewood plans to feature a variety of renowned spiritual practitioners and teachers from a variety of backgrounds and practicing traditions. “Through Folk Wisdom, viewers will learn about time-honored healing traditions, shamanic practices, magical workings, how to communicate with the divine, and much more.”
In her first show, Applewood talks with Laney Goodman, a visionary drummer, singer and ceremonialist. Goodman, who is part Cherokee, brings a unique perspective on working with the directions and elements through sound and vibration. Following a brief musical introduction of flute, drum and chant, Goodman brings in each of the directions and elements and discusses how they relate to the breath, the spark of life, emotions and the body.
