Westford Student Is Helping Those in Need

Madison Leong is hoping to raise $2,500 to help send disadvantaged children to summer camp. Please consider helping her worthwhile cause.

Madison Leong, age 10, is teaming up with Emmaus Inc., of Haverhill, MA to provide summer camp scholarships to the many disadvantaged children Emmaus, Inc. serves each year.  Emmaus, Inc. is a community-based non-profit corporation founded in 1985 that provides housing and services to homeless adults and families.  In the past 27 years, Emmaus, Inc. has helped more than 25,000 children, women, and men out of homelessness and into permanent housing, jobs, and independent living.

Madison became involved with Emmaus, Inc. fives year ago, through the annual toy drive, "For the Love of Erika" that her sister, Taylor, started 8 years ago.  Through the annual holiday parties, Madison learned more about the organization and the many children and families that have fallen upon hard times.  Madison realized that these children were not fortunate enough to have the opportunities that she has had to attend summer camp and wanted to do something to make a difference.  With the support of family and friends, Madison has held "Bingo Night" fundraisers and to date has raised more than $1,100.  Her goal is to raise $2,500 by June 1st, which will help send 10 children to camp this summer.

If you would like to support Madison's cause, donations can be made to "For the Love of Erika" and sent to: c/o Laura Goodman, 68 Main Street, Suite 3, Andover, MA 01810.  If you would like more information, please call (978) 475-1617.
