What's New This Weekend on Westford CAT

You can watch "Blue Fizz" visit the Police Department this weekend on Westford CAT's public channels, Comcast 8 and Verizon 35.

By Lauren Horton
Manager, Westford CAT

There’s a new kid in town. He’s fuzzy, he’s blue, and he has an infectious curiosity about places to go and things to do around Westford. We’re told that Blue Fizz is an alien from out of space, who is being cared for by his “earth mom,” Mary Ethier, of Westford. He’s very interested in his new surroundings and Ethier has decided to accommodate his inquisitive nature by taking him on visits to various places around town.  Charles Stark, a long time Westford CAT volunteer, offered to follow Blue Fizz and Ethier on their journeys with one of our loaner cameras. The result is a new series for Westford CAT viewers called, “Blue Fizz Visits.”

The first episode gives viewers an inside look at our Police Station with Community Service Officer Michael Croteau. Along with getting a tour of the station, a jail cell, the officer’s workout room and the inside of a cruiser, Blue gets a lot of great tips on staying safe and working with our local police force. You can watch this charming little character on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., Friday at 3:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 8:30am.

Also running on our public channels today at 9 p.m. and Sunday at 10:30 a.m. is a new episode of “Wicked Good Foods,” with lots of advice and techniques on grilling outside, perfect for the hot summer days we’ve been having lately.   And this week’s “Green by Design” which plays on Friday at 11a .m. and Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. is all about Organic Farming.  On Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. this week’s movie classic movie is “Abraham Lincoln” preceded by an episode from the original “Superman” series with George Reeves. Also, an hour long special “Postcards from Onset” runs this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. This is a nicely done local access documentary on the history of a charming Cape town, told through postcards issued over the years.

On our Education Channels this week we are continuing to play some programs produced by the media students at Nashoba Valley Technical High School including this year’s Human Rights Day presentation with Ernest Rugwizangong, who addressed the students earlier this year about he genocide in Rwanda.
