British Beer Company Celebrates First Anniversary

Throughout the world, the BBC is known as one of the best places to get news, but for the past year in Westford, the BBC has become known as one of the best places to get beer. 

On August 12 and 13, the British Beer Company will celebrate its first year in Westford with free barbeque, music from a variety of bands and a “tap takeover” from Wachusett Brewing Company.

The “takeover” will replace seven of the BBCs regular taps with offerings from the local beer company including their Blueberry Ale, Green Monsta IPA, Belgan White, “Larry”, Country Pale Ale, Octoberfest Ale, and their debut of their “Imperial Pumpkin” Ale.

Just like the first year celebrations at the other British Beer Company locations across the Commonwealth, Westford BBC manager Eddie Montgomery expects the festivities to be something for patrons to remember.

“We do it up real nice, especially when (the anniversary) has fallen on a weekend, where other BBCs have done a two day event, like we’ll be doing here,” said Montgomery, who believes there will be a 10 percent increase in customer traffic. “It will really follow what we like to do as a company; we like to celebrate with the guests as well as the staff in following the main bloodline of what we normally like to do.”

The event also marks the continuous integration of the BBC into a distinctive piece of Westford’s identity.

“(This past year) has been better than I could have ever dreamed of,” said Montgomery. “This community has welcomed us with open arms, and I couldn’t be happier with the turnout we’ve gotten so far. It’s far exceeded my expectations.”
