Westford's Population Has Grown By 12.3% In 10 Years

According to U.S. Census data released last week, the number of residents in the town has grown from 21,951 to 24,643.

WESTFORD, MA — The Town of Westford has added about 2,692 residents over the last ten years, according to the 2020 U.S. Census data released last week.

The data shows that Westford's population grew by 12.3% from 2010 to 2020, with a population of 21,951 people ten years ago and 24,643 as of April 1, 2020.

Middlesex County as a whole experienced a higher population growth of 8.6%, adding 128,917 residents to reach a total of 1,632,002, and Massachusetts' growth was slightly lower at 7.4%, adding 482,288 residents for a total of 7,029,917.

Last week's 2020 Census data is still somewhat preliminary, with the bureau set to release data on undercounts and overcounts next year. The count also took place amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which may have affected response rates.
