Chelmsford Community Band Presents Holiday Concert
Free Chelmsford Holiday Concert, Sun Dec. 13, 2pm

On Sunday, December 13th, the Chelmsford Community Band will ring in the season with holiday favorites, hand-made baked goods, a sing-a-long, and the warm feeling of community in a joint concert featuring both the concert and jazz ensembles.
This holiday season marks the first performances of the jazz ensemble under new director Arthur Bakopolus. High points of his jazz career have included touring with Artie Shaw, Guy Lombardo, and Benny Goodman. Music has taken him on cruise ships to Hawaii, buses to Wisconsin, the orchestra pit at the Ringling Brothers circus, and a stage at Boston Garden. A Massachusetts native, Bakopolus (quoting Duke Ellington) observes: “There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind.”
This joint concert features two programs packed with a festive musical celebration of the spirit of the season. It starts at 2pm at the Chelmsford Senior Center, 75 Groton Road, in North Chelmsford. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted and will aid the band’s fundraising drive to expand their percussion equipment.

The Chelmsford Community Band was founded in 1972 as a volunteer group of adult musicians who greatly enjoy bringing live music to the greater Chelmsford area. The concert band and jazz ensemble both perform several concerts throughout the year and on Chelmsford Common every summer.
