ComForcare Home Care Finds New Way to Aid Seniors
Donations can be Made at Eastern Bank at Cornerstone Square, 203 Littleton Rd Until 12/20
Jennifer Quinn is better informed than most on the subject of senior health care and the struggles impoverished seniors face in their day-to-day lives. As owner of ComForcare Home Care in Westford located at 70 Broadway St, Quinn is given insight into the harsh realities that can befall seniors that lack support. That’s why Quinn is co-sponsoring a Senior Giving Tree, a charitable effort to support the Westford Council on Aging, Cameron Senior Center and Chelmsford Senior Center.
Co-sponsored by Paul Playe, manager of Eastern Bank at Cornerstone Square in Westford, the Senior Giving Tree charity will be accepting donations of $10 Market Basket gift cards or $10 gas cards to help seniors afford groceries and gas until December 20. These amounts, though seemingly small, can play a large role in helping out seniors in a tough financial spot, says Quinn. “People often don’t realize the kind of struggles many seniors go through in just getting by, whether it is because the seniors are too proud to ask for help or because we often associate our senior years as being comfortable.” But, adds Quinn, the reality is that many seniors need assistance, even if only on a temporary basis.
Having previously worked in education for two decades—13 years as an educational consultant and seven years as an elementary and special education teacher—Quinn is now using her role as owner of a ComForcare Home Care franchise to impart the importance of caring for seniors by educating clients on best care practices. “Increasing awareness is one of the keys to ensuring that seniors receive the care that they deserve,” says Quinn. “Seniors often lack a voice when it comes to issues of care. It is our hope that, through small acts like the Senior Giving Tree, they’re given the voice they deserve.”
