Escaped Littleton Bull Leads Police On Chase

A bull escaped a Littleton auction site and made it all the way to Ayer. It was still on the loose Thursday; a search will resume Friday.

LITTLETON, MA — A 1,200-pound bull escaped a Littleton auction site made it all the way to Ayer, where authorities were still tracking it Thursday. The bull got loose from the Flame Auction on Great Road in Littleton Tuesday, police said. It made it to Groton Wednesday and then to Ayer, where it was spotted all over town. Ayer police issued a "code red" alert to local neighborhoods Wednesday night.

"So far, all attempts at capturing it have been unsuccessful," Ayer police said in a statement. "Cattle farmers will be back in the morning to try and capture the bull again."

A wrangler in a cowboy hat was reportedly called to the scene to help catch the animal.

Anyone who sees the bull is asked to call Ayer police at 978-772-8200 and stay away from the animal. Someone recently opened an "@LittletonBull" Twitter account chronicling the animal's escape.
