The painting technique of fresco reflects one of the most popular artistic mediums in Southern European Medieval and Renaissance Art. We will explore art from Giotto to Michelangelo to understand how the technique of fresco served to inspire and educate.
Tempera painting, the use of egg yolk as a binder, was the medium used in European Medieval and early Renaissance paintings. We will review the elements of the tempera technique and its importance before oils.

Martha Chiarchiaro has lectured on the history of art for more than twenty-five years. After receiving her Masters degree in the History of Art from Williams College, Martha began working in the Education Department at the Worcester Art Museum.
