Clinic hosted by Jeff Coffin (3xGrammy winner & saxophonist for DMB) & his all-star band "The Mu'tet"
This is worth taking off from work early!!!!! 4pm-6pm on Friday 9/9/11.
If you are serious about being a musician, this clinic should not be missed! We are excited to welcome back Jeff Coffin (saxophonist for the Dave Matthews Band). Jeff also spent 14 years with the genre-defying Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. This time he brings with him his all-star band "The Mu'tet". Playing with the Mu'tet is a group of well-known musicians Jeff 'Apt. Q-258' Sipe on drums, Felix Pastorius (son of bass legend Jaco Pastorius) on electric bass, Bill 'The Spaceman' Fanning on trumpet/space trumpet and Mike Seal on guitar wizard.
Jeff Coffin (JC) and the Mu'tet will first play for about a half hour or so followed by an open question and answer session. The topics discussed can include improvisation, composition, rehearsal techniques, the necessity of fundamentals, musical influences, how to work on odd metered music, being on the road, and whatever else people want to talk with the band about. When applicable, musical demonstrations accompany the questions. Everyone is kindly asked to participate in the Q & A. "The only 'bad' questions are those that don't get asked." (JC)
We will also be raffling off one pair of tickets for Mu'tet show at Berklee's 939 club at 8PM that evening!
