Think It’s OK To Provide Alcohol To Minors In Your Own Home?

Think again. While the law does state that parents can give their own underage children alcohol, if they so choose, they cannot give alcohol to any other underage children. Many well-meaning adults think that providing a “safe” place to drink is a good idea. Wrong again. Good kids make bad decisions. Adding alcohol to the mix can be deadly. And financially catastrophic.

Attorney Richard B. Campbell designed the multimedia program Be A Parent, Not A Pal, which will be presented on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Stony Brook Middle School Auditorium, 9 Farmer’s Way, Westford. Mr. Campbell, with the law firm Campbell, Campbell, Edwards & Conroy, created the program to educate parents, teachers, and the community about the Social Host Liability Law. The presentation will illustrate the consequences of allowing those under 21 to possess alcoholic beverages.

The talk is free and open to the public, and is presented in partnership with the Westford Parent Connection, Westford Against Substance Abuse (WASA), the Westford Police Department, and Westford Academy.
