F.A.M.E. Awards Senior and Summer Music Camp Scholarships

Organization aims to help foster greater participation in the musical arts among students in Westford.

Westford students ranging of all ages were recipients of this year’s F.A.M.E. Senior scholarships and Summer Music Camp scholarships. F.A.M.E (Friends Advancing Music Education) awarded a total of twenty four scholarships to deserving students.

Scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors recognizing them for their strong musical ability, significant contribution to music ensembles and music theater in the Westford Public Schools system as well as for community service as it relates to music.

Additionally, F.A.M.E. awarded fifteen scholarships to students entering grades six through nine who are planning to attend a summer music camp in the hopes that such scholarships to encourage students to continue their participation in music programs as they progress from lower levels to the upper levels of education.

Money for the scholarships came from two events the organization held this year: the F.A.M.E. Music Café, a bistro style event featuring local musicians in the fall, and the F.A.M.E. Dinner Dance, an event that featured the Westford Academy Jazz Ensemble.

Students  recieved scholarships to this year's summer music camp from F.A.M.E's efforts included Leonardo Cheng, Emily Du, Gregory Du, Maggie Daniel, Andre Franco, Matthew Gagnon, Anie Holland, Anna Hartmann, Medha Hiremath, Sadhika Hiremath, Karina Luetien, Karen Ni, Esther Pak, and Rahit Rajiv.
