Teen Killed In Tyngsborough Crash

TYNGSBOROUGH, MA — A teenager was killed Sunday morning in a crash in Tyngsborough on Route 3, according to state police. The identity of the 19-year-old victim was not immediately released. The crash happened on the northbound side of the highway at about 6:30 a.m., police said.

The teen was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Passat when he somehow lost control and veered into the right breakdown lane then off the road into a grassy area, according to an investigation by State police Trooper Stephen Thompson. The vehicle then rolled over and came to rest near the tree line, Thompson said. The teen died at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle.

The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of his family, police said. The cause of the crash remained under investigation Sunday afternoon.
