Five Things for Today in Westford: Aug. 4
From Nabnasset to Forge Village, here are your Five Things for today in Westford.
#1. For Westford Academy Parents: If you haven't already, Westford Academy officials are asking all parents to sign up for the new iPass Parent Portal at the Westford Public Schools website.
Westford Academy will no longer have paper report cards or progress reports, on the iPass system, parents will be able to view their child's attendance record, profile, grade history, state assessment scores and courses.

#2. Looking For a Seasoned Companion?: The Lowell Human Society is giving away elderly cats (over the age of 6) to anyone over 60
#3. Pictured: Earlier this week, Middlesex County Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian was at the George Rogers Fire Station to visit with cadets participating in the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office Youth Public Safety Academy (YPSA).

During the visit, the cadets participated in a firefighter evacuation drill and learned about ice safety.
More than 1,700 children from across the county have participated in some level of the YPSA this summer, including 50 from Westford.
#4. Over at UMass Lowell...Meredith Gillman of Westford was the recipient of the Department of Work Environment’s Outstanding Graduate Student Award, which she received along with an master of science degree in work environment with a concentration in occupational and environmental hygiene earlier this summer.
