Five Things You Need To Know About Westford's Turkey Day Game

Every other year, Westford Academy hosts their Dual County League archrivals, the Colonials of Acton-Boxborough High School, in the traditional Turkey Day game.

If you're going, here's some things to keep in mind.

#1. Pancakes: Traffic and parking will be an issue, so why not get there early and grab some pancakes? It costs $8, and there will be a wide variety of breakfast items on hand, with all proceeds going toward the Nutting Fields.

#2. Pricier Tickets Than Usual: Tickets will cost you $10 a piece, or $7 if you are a senior citizen or student.

#3. Mount Rushmore: To give credit where credit's due, Westford Academy superstar Alex Eaton shared that nickname for quarterback Justin Mount with us yesterday.

Since Mount filled in for the injured Troy Faretra earlier in the year, Mount and Eaton have teamed up as the bulk of Westford's offensive attack, combining for . 

If the rest of the season is any indication, the key to victory for the Grey Ghosts lies with them scoring early points on long drives, relieving pressure on a defense that has buckled in crucial situations in the past.

#4. Records: Westford Academy and Acton-Boxborough both come into Thanksgiving at 6-4, but neither can advance to the playoffs as undefeated Lincoln-Sudbury has already clinched the Dual County League Large Division title.

The Colonials hold a 16-3 record all time against the Grey Ghosts, but Westford won last year 21-8, and Acton-Boxborough lost to all the same teams as Westford along with one team the Ghosts defeated in Marshfield.
