Westford officials tonight will host a community forum on preventing conflicts with black bears.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the police station training room at 53 Main St.

There have been more than a dozen bear sightings in town in recent weeks. There have also been a handful of moose and bobcat sightings.

There have been no reported attacks on people in Westford this year, though a bear killed a few chickens recently.

Patricia Huckery, of the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife, will give a brief presentation tonight about preventing conflicts with black bears and answer questions from the public. If you are not able to attend, send any questions or comments to animalcontrol@westfordma.gov.
