Ghosts Prepare for Playoff Baseball and Softball

Westford Academy baseball will be joining their softball counterparts in the post season.

 

Spring sports are coming to the end for high school athletes across the Commonwealth, but will now have its baseball team in the mix for post season glory.

The Ghosts needed just one more win to clinch their spot, and while they couldn't get it at Lincoln-Sudbury, losing 2-1 in extra innings, the Boys in Maroon punched their ticket on Saturday morning with a 1-0 victory over Concord-Carlisle.

John Troy scored the Ghosts only run in both games, and robbed a Concord-Carlisle run in their last time at the plate to seal the victory for Westford.

Their regular season ends today at Newton South, with a chance to rise to 11-9 with a victory.

For the softball team, , but the regular season ending 10-1 loss to Acton-Boxborough shunted some of the momentum from senior night.

Sarah Ropiak pitched a complete game for the Colonials, with only Christine Raymond and Stephanie LaFlamme registering hits for the Ghosts.

The softball team enters the playoffs at 10-10
