Girl Brought Pellet Gun To School: Tyngsborough Police
Tyngsborough police said a Greater Lowell Technical High School was arrested Wednesday for bring a pellet gun to school.

TYNGSBOROUGH, MA — A Greater Lowell Technical High School student was arrested Wednesday on charges she brought a pellet gun to school. The girl, who was not identified, was charged with carrying a weapon on school grounds and disturbing a school assembly.
In a statement, Tyngsborough Deputy Police Chief Christopher Chronopoulos said officers responded to the school at about 1:30 p.m. after receiving a report a student may be in possession of a firearm. Officers narrowed the search to the girl and found an unloaded pellet gun in her backpack, according to Chronopoulos.
"The student did not threaten anyone and Tyngsborough Police do not believe there was ever any danger to the school community," Chronopoulos said in a statement.

The girl was scheduled for an arraignment in Lowell Juvenile Court.
"I would like to thank the students, faculty and staff for their patience and cooperation," Chronopoulos added. "Everyone followed protocol and thankfully, this was resolved without incident."

After the arrest school officials notified parents, students and faculty of the situation through electronic messages.
