Girls Lacrosse Snags No. 1 Seed in Postseason

The MIAA announced its playoff pairings on Thursday, and Westford Academy will enter the tournament as the team to beat.

Westford Academy is the team to beat in Division 1 girls lacrosse.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association announced its postseason pairings on Thursday, and the Grey Ghosts snagged the No. 1 seed thanks to a sparkling regular season record of 19-1.

As a result, Westford earned a bye in the preliminary round of the tournament. In the first round, the locals will take on either No. 16 Haverhill or No. 17 Lowell.

The Lowell versus Haverhill match up is scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. The winner won't have much time to rest up, as Westford awaits in a game slated for Tuesday at 4 p.m.

If the Grey Ghosts are able to advance, they will take on either Billerica or Andover in the quarterfinal round of the North Division 1 bracket.

Westford's boys lacrosse team is also playoff bound, awaiting their postseason assignment. Seedings will be announced on Friday for boys lacrosse.
