Grey Ghost Athletes Sign With Division 1 Colleges

Find out where Nick Sciuto and Emily Ruggiero are taking their track and cross country talents to in the fall.

A pair of Westford Academy athletes are running all the way to Division 1 colleges this fall.

The school announced in a press release on Thursday that track and cross country standouts Nick Sciuto and Emily Ruggiero recently made their college decisions by signing National Letters of Intent.

Ruggiero signed with the University of Massachusetts Amherst while Sciuto opted to attend Iona College. In addition to running track in multiple seasons, each athlete participates in cross country as well.

During her career with the Grey Ghosts, Ruggiero ran a two-mile time of 11:19.95, which earned her a spot in New Englands and the New Balance National Indoor Championships, according to the press release.

Sciuto, meanwhile, set a new Westford Academy record when he ran the 1,000-meter event in a time of 2:34.08.
