Grey Ghosts Come Back Late In Marshfield
Westford Academy started off slowly, but their potent offense came through in the clutch, earning them a 31-27 win on the road against Marshfield.
There were two sets of Grey Ghosts on the field in Marshfield on Friday night. Fortunately for , the edition that emerged in the second half proved to be too much for the hosts to handle, earning themselves a nailbiting 31-27 victory.
That victory was hard earned due in large part continuing defensive struggles from last week's game against , allowing a pair of short yardage touchdowns from the Rams' Mike Williams as well as one later on from Marshfield quarterback Mark Pomella.
A lesser team might have thrown in the towel, but Westford Academy head coach Rich McKenna wouldn't have it.

"We came out slow today, but at halftime all we said was 'this isn't Grey Ghost football, and we're not coming out of the locker room unless we're playing Grey Ghost football,'" said McKenna.
One of the few bright spots in the first half for Westford was quarterback Troy Faretra, and he helped light the spark for the Ghosts in the third quarter, grabbing his second touchdown of the game.

From there, Marshfield was able to hold its ground, but the tide had turned.
Faretra grabbed another touchdown with approximately six minutes left in the game, which appeared to be enough until the Rams equalized with just over two minutes left, putting them up 27-24.
But, Faretra rallied his squad down the field and with less than a minute left, junior Justin Mount put the Grey Ghosts back on top.
Fittingly enough, Faretra sealed the win on the Rams' final drive with an interception to end the fourth quarter seesaw once and for all.
For Marshfield head coach Lou Silva, the result was disappointing, but not surprising given the scouting reports he had been given on his opponents.
"They're a hard scoring offense, they can move the ball on you at any one time, we were on our heels most of the time, and I have no doubt in my mind they had the capabilities to score," said Silva. "We came out flat from halftime, and from there we were just fighting for our lives."
The Grey Ghosts will return to their first game on the Academy's for their home opener against North Andover next week while the Rams will try to bounce back against Bridgewater/Raynham.
