Grey Ghosts Get Softball Win Over Revere

The Westford Academy softball squad opened the season with an 8-2 road victory over a solid Revere team.
Senior captain Allie Brody got the win, striking out seven and allowing only one earned run in a complete game victory. Westford scored five runs in the fifth inning to break open a tight pitcher’s duel.
Offensively, the Grey Ghosts banged out 16 hits and received multiple hit games from senior captain Shannon Donahue, junior Sage Riddick, and sophomores Steph Laflamme, Alexa Sullivan and Christie Raymond.

Junior shortstop Rachel Desrochers also contributed offensively with two walks and a key bunt.
Defensively, junior catcher Ali Difonzo threw out two baserunners on attempted steals to thwart Revere rallies, senior first basemen Katie Lowe made a sliding stop and threw out the runner on a bunt attempt, and sophomore center fielder Emily Chateauneuf tracked a number of fly balls in support of the win.

Westford Academy hosts Chelmsford on Thursday in an attempt to go 2-0.
