Grey Ghosts Grab More Titles
The girls' hockey team have a regular season league championship, the boys have a shot as well, and two swimmers earned honors at the sectional meet at MIT this weekend.
While ’s boys’ basketball team couldn’t gain a Dual County League regular season championship , Grey Ghost athletes have been earning an assortment of new titles as the 2011-2012 winter sports season draws to a close.
Leading the way was the girls’ hockey team, who clinched the regular season Merrimack Valley/Dual County League title last week with a 3-2 win over Concord-Carlisle.
Although they couldn’t continue their winning ways, skating to a 1-1 tie against Wayland/Weston on Saturday, they close out the regular season with three home contests in Groton against Newton South, Beverly/Danvers and Masconomet before beginning Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff competition.

Also on the ice, the boys’ team remains a half game behind Central Catholic in Division 1 of the MVC/DCL. They travel to Boxborough for a fight against the Colonials before ending their regular season with showdowns against Masconomet and Billerica.
Heading from the rink to the pool, Kelly Huber took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke at the MIAA Division 1 North Sections at MIT on Saturday.

She was joined on the winner’s podium by fellow Grey Ghost Jen Marrkand, who took first in the 100 yard butterfly competition.
As a team, Westford Academy finished with 277 points, giving them a fourth place overall finish at the meet behind Weston, Marblehead and Wayland.
