Grey Ghosts Will Need A Win to Reach Baseball Playoffs

Westford Academy was able to reduce their magic number to one, but they haven't clinched a playoff spot yet.

While the Ghosts were able to grab a 4-1 victory over Acton-Boxborough earlier this week on the back of a Will Alden complete game and three crucial sixth inning runs, the boys in Maroon will still need one more win to qualify for the postseason.

That win did not come on Thursday, as they fell 2-0 at home to the Boston Latin Wolfpack.

The Ghosts nearly tied it up in the last inning, but Boston Latin's Patrick Naughton stranded two runners in scoring position, adding to a stellar day where he struck out 12 Westford batters.

With the loss, Westford is now 9-8 and will need a win on the road against Lincoln-Sudbury on Friday, Concord-Carlisle on Saturday or Newton South on Tuesday to reach the .500 mark needed for post-season eligibility.
