Hot Weather Brings Hot Streak for Westford Willows

The Willows have won five of their last six, including two of three against the visiting Brooklyn (NY) Bonnies.

That was the score of the Westford Willows loss to the Chelmsford Merchants on Friday but it was also the symbol of a turning point.

Since that game, the Willows have turned the corner, highlighted by the annual visit from the Long Island Amateur Baseball Association's Brooklyn Bonnies, who dropped two of three to the Willows over the July 1 weekend.

The Willows also took their the three from their Central New England Baseball Association opponents, taking two from the Keene Blue Jays and a rematch with the Merchants by a combined score of 20-5.

Those wins have helped catapult the Willows into third place in the CNEBA standings. They now stand at 24 points (12-9), one behind Shrewsbury (12-6-1) and seven behind Clinton (16-6).

The Willows will face off against the Merchants again at home tonight followed by games later this week against Metro West, South Central, Clinton and Lunenburg.
