A missing Westford teenager has been found safe.
Police said Joseph Siriani, 18, went for a hike in the Day Elementary School area Wednesday. He left a note for his parents saying he’d be gone “a few hours.” He didn’t bring a cell phone.
When he didn’t return by Thursday morning, his parents called police—who launched a massive search effort that included all-terrain vehicles and a helicopter. News of the search spread quickly on social media; a “Help Find Joey Siriani” page was set up.

“He was not aware of the large scale search going on for him, but figured people may be looking for him,” Westford police said in a statement.
Siriani is the son of Westford Selectman Don Siriani, who thanked police.
