IMAGE GALLERY: Westford Academy Turf Field Opening Day

Culminating in work begun by the Community Fields Project committee on January 31, 2008, 's new turf field is now official after boys' and girls' soccer games against Acton-Boxborough on Tuesday night. 

Following fundraising efforts that accrued $650,000 toward this field, all of which came from private donors, the field follows in the footsteps of other Dual County League schools that switched away from grass for the purposes of durability and an increased resistance to harsh New England winters. 

The field will soon be joined with two more at the on Nutting Road, which if all goes according to plan will be completed in Spring of 2012.  

Donations can still be made to both projects, with those who donate $250 or more will have their names recorded at both sites, and advertisement space still available for local businesses.
