Westford U-11 White Season Opener
Westford White-Team played Lowell yesterday. The Lowell team had 30 players and asked if we could take some of their players onto our side, so that all the boys at Cawley field could have equal playing time.
In the spirit of fair play, we absorbed some of their players and had a very competitive game. Our two Goalies, Dominic Marshall and Robert Rabion played terrific in net.
The attack crew of Ryan Walsh, Willem Lorrette, Jonathan Burke did a great job applying pressure in the opponents end of the field. Our defense, lead by Brian Bonczek, Declan Morse, Aidan Timlin and Trevor Furness consistently kept the opposition away from our net area. Our extremely aggressive Midfielders Griffin Schwab, Danny McInerny, Tommy Welham, Michael Paulauskas, Daniel Marshall and Kevin Egan did a terrific job playing as a team and working the ball toward the opposing end for several goals and multiple scoring opportunities.
Special thanks to the Westford boys and the coaching staff for accepting the challenge of additional Lowell players and keeping the true meaning of the game in perspective.

Boys U15
Team #1 vs Tyngsboro
The U-15 Black team started off their season with a very nice come-from-behind victory over Tyngsboro to run their record to 1-0. Trailing the entire game by 2-5 goals, Westford slowly closed the gap in the 2nd half through good ball possession and solid defense. Anchoring the defense was Derek Beatty who had an excellent game clearing the ball, shutting down Tyngsboro’s top Attackman and picking up virtually every ground ball as a Long-Pole Middie on face-offs. Jake Cantalupo and Nick Goodman rounded off the solid defensive core with good man-on-man coverage. On the offensive end of the field, Attackmen Richard Paglia (8 goals, 2 assists) and Justin Linden (3 goals, 4 assists) worked their magic by either scoring or assisting on all but 2 of Westford’s goals. Midfielder Jason Hughes also came up big with 3 goals at critical points in the 2nd half to help spark the come-back. Other Midfielders who had solid games include Nick Regan, Daniel Koerner, Andrew Merrell and Jon Kruger. Playing in goal for the first time was newcomer Brennan Atkins who made some key saves in the first half to keep the game within reach.
