Event: Inspired Blooms
March 21 and 22
Hours: Tuesday – Sunday 10 am – 9 pm
Littleton will have its own flower show at Gallery 529 during the weekend of March 21 and 22. It is time to put away the shovels and think spring! Many local florists and garden clubs will be creating floral works of art. Among those expected to make arrangements are; Littleton Country Gardeners, Flourish Flower Design and Lavender Flowers of Groton, Country Florist of Pepperell, and the Acton and Harvard Garden Clubs, among others. For this event, each floral designer has chosen a work of art in the gallery and will be making flower arrangements to complement the art.
Virginia Wood, Executive Director of Gallery 529, is looking forward to an early burst of spring color. “I am really excited by this event. February was a seemingly never ending monotone palette of white served frozen. This flower show will be a wonderful way to see how local florists create their art – inspired by other works of art. It will be full of color and blooms.” According to Wood, the bouquets will be on view all weekend and available for sale on Sunday, March 22.
In addition to the local florists, local horticulturalists Margot Hammer and Frank Streeter will also be selling their prize winning camellias on Sunday.
A reception, at which refreshments will be served, will be held Sunday from 4 – 6 pm. During that time, awards will be given for the best of show, chosen by the public. Awards will also be given for the best of show for the Gallery’s on-going “Summer Dreaming” exhibition at which over 20 artists have depicted the ‘essence of summer.’ The event is free and open to the public.
