Koko Fit Club Seeks Success at New Littleton Road Location
Koko Fit Club co-owners Lori and Jeff Granville hope to duplicate the success they found in Harvard and Acton at their new location at Westford Valley Marketplace 2.
Ready or not, here comes Koko.
Located at Westford Valley Marketplace 2, Koko Fit Club unexpectedly opened its doors on Monday to the delight of members at Lori and Jeff Granville’s other Koko locations in Harvard and Acton who happened to be in the area, and now they’re looking to make their mark on Littleton Road.
“We’ve never really done a grand opening type of event at our other stores,” said Lori. “As far as we’re concerned, it’s open. If you build it, they will come, we hope.”

The club sees itself not as a gym, but a personal training center where all most of the training is done by computer programs and USB drives that store personal exercise data ranging from overall fitness plans to how quickly a certain amount of weight was lifted during a workout, while staff members aim to create a pleasurable and congenial environment.
From her past experience at the other two clubs, which opened in July of 2010 in Acton and March of this year in Harvard, Granville finds that after three weeks, her clients develop a habit and want to stop by more often. That mentality has led to the club’s philosophy behind its pricing scheme of $69 per month, which aims for people who have a serious commitment to getting in shape.

“We’re not selling $10 memberships, we’re looking for the people who want to get in shape, educated people who are willing to stick with it, and we think that’s the type of people that live in Westford and Acton,” she said. “When you think about how much people pay for coffee, $69 is nothing compared to your health.”
Only time will tell if the club can overcome potential obstacles such as and looming gridlock coming from Cornerstone Square construction later this year, but Lori’s hopes are high that their Westford location can achieve the success of their other clubs.
“Westford’s a lot like Acton, it’s kind of a sweet spot for a Koko Fit Club,” said Lori. “Westford has a lot more businesses than the other communities, so I think that will help.”
