"The Laramie Project" by Moisés Kaufman and Tectonic Theatre Project
Presented by Westford Academy Theater Arts, "The Laramie Project" by Moisés Kaufman and Tectonic Theatre Project opens in the WA PAC.

The Laramie Project is a play by Moisés Kaufman and the members of the Tectonic Theatre Project that explores the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay college student living in Laramie, Wyoming. In the weeks, months, and days after his murder, members of the Tectonic Theatre Project traveled to Laramie, Wyoming and conducted interviews with the people of the town. The Laramie Project is a result of their tireless efforts to understand the circumstances surrounding this act of hatred; the result is a deeply moving and powerful exploration of how ignorance and hatred contributed to Matthew Shepard's death. The play invites the audience to examine whether something like this could happen in our own backyard, and to what extent we need to continue to understand difference and challenge discrimination in all forms.
