Leominster SWAT Standoff: Suspect Found Dead
A man was found dead inside a burning Leominster home Monday after engaging in a standoff with police, authorities said.

LEOMINSTER, MA — A man was found dead inside a burning Leominster home Monday after engaging in an hours-long standoff with police, authorities said. The man's identity was not immediately released. The incident happened on Eden Glen Street Monday morning and police ordered residents to shelter in place in their homes.
Gunshots were heard in the area, though police have not confirmed those details. Leominster police released a statement at about 1:15 p.m. saying "reports of active shooter are unconfirmed at this time." (Sign up for free daily newsletters and breaking news alerts from Massachusetts Patch sites.)
The nearby St. Anna School on Lancaster Street was locked down during the incident, police said.

Multiple news helicopters hovered over the scene, prompting Massachusetts State Police to ask media outlets to delay the helicopter footage feed "so police operations are not revealed to suspect."
