What was originally expected to be a quick snowstorm Tuesday turned into a huge nuisance and should only get worse when it the snow turns to freezing rain and envelopes the area in ice.

Westford Storm Central is up again! Today's snowstorm was originally expected to be relatively tame. Turns out that's not the case. Up to 10 inches of snow could fall by this afternoon, and things are expected to get chaotic when the snow turns to freezing rain tonight. The most recent updates are at the top:
8:34 p.m. Barring any major incidents, this does it for Westford Storm Central! Remember to take it easy during the commute tomorrow, as another wintry mix of snow and rain is expected in the morning. GOOD NIGHT!
6:29 p.m. The National Weather Service said 5.3 inches of snow fell on Westford as of 3:40 p.m.

6:00 p.m. No weather-related crashes reported on the evening commute so far.
4:58 p.m. Faaaantastic. The National Weather Service is predicted snow and rain tomorrow morning. About an inch of snow is expected to accumulate.

4:57 p.m. The J.V. Fletcher Library is closed tonight.
4:50 p.m. Police responded to Black Bear Lane for a report of two vehicles parked on the side of the road and impeding town plows.
4:16 p.m. Police were notified of three vehicles illegally parked on Atwater Drive and impeding a town plow.
4:06 p.m. A disabled motor vehicle in the middle of the road near Concord Road and Route 110 was reported. Emergency crews are responding.
3:43 p.m. There was an apparent water pipe break in the building on Lan Drive. The water supply was shut off.
3:40 p.m. A commercial building on Lan Drive was evacuated for an unknown reason. The Fire Department is at the scene investigating.
3:20 p.m. WOW! Ayer got seven inches of snow by 12:57 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. An exact total for Westford isn't in, but it has to be close to 10 inches so far.
2:46 p.m. Tonight's Bylaw Review Committee meeting is cancelled.
2:33 p.m. Tonight's Planning Boad meetin was postponed to Jan. 24.
1:21 p.m. Tonight's School Committee meeting was postponed. A makeup date was not immediately announced.
1:06 p.m. Town offices will close at 1:30 p.m. today because of the snow.
12:45 p.m. Westford highway crews expect the snow to turn into sleet by 2 p.m. This is when the driving can get really dangerous.
12:21 p.m. Police responded to a two-car "fender-bender" on Jimney Drive.
12:07 p.m. Highway crews are attempting to help a truck that got stuck at the end of Hemlock Road. The truck's battery may have failed.
11:24 a.m. Police say the vehicle removed itself.
11:22 a.m. Westford police responded to a report of a vehicle into a snowbank near the restaurant on Route 110.
About 10 a.m. Westford Academy boys basketball coach Ed Scollan Tweets that tonight's boys game against Newton-South at 5:30 p.m. is off because of the snow. You can follow his Twitter account here.
About 6 a.m. Officials announce schools are closed today because of the snow.
