Local Company Looks to Make Westford Into Model for U.S. Solar Industry
Locally-based Divya Energy announced a soft launch into Westford last month and hopes their company can help make it easier for businesses and homeowners across the country to install solar panels.

Westford might be able to lay claim to the title of Massachusetts’ solar capital after the opening of and of Westford Solar Park, and one local company wants to lay claim to a piece of the town’s literal and figurative looming horizons.
Owned by Chelmsford resident Anup Bhagat, locally based Divya Energy announced a soft launch into Westford earlier this month.
The company touts itself as being comparable to a travel booking site such as Orbitz or Expedia, only with solar panel installation for businesses and home owners rather than getting plane tickets and hotel rooms.

Divya spokesperson Will Sennett believes that the company’s services are primed for Massachusetts, Westford in particular.
“Right now Massachusetts pretty much has the best incentive structure for homeowners and businesses looking to get solar energy,” said Sennett. “And we’re focusing on Westford because we know the area fairly well and have some connections there.”

Prior to this month, the company had contracted out solar panels capable of producing 1.7 megawatts elsewhere in New England as well as Illinois and California, and it believes that Massachusetts will be heading new growth in the industry.
“Massachusetts is really a leader in the growth of solar power across the United States,” said Sennett. “And Westford is really your prototypical Massachusetts and American town. We think Westford will be an example for other towns in Massachusetts and across the country can do once they become aware of the benefits of solar energy.”
