Local Man Risks Life to Save Downed Drone
Littleton police said a man fell through an icy pond trying to retrieve his downed drone.

LITTLETON, MA — A Littleton man whose drone crashed into an icy pond made things a lot worse for himself when he fell through trying to retrieve it, police said.

The man was not hurt.
The incident happened Wednesday at about 9:30 a.m. Police and firefighters were called to Mill Pond after receiving a report there was a downed drone. They noticed a section of ice was broken and followed footprints leading to an apartment at the Pondside at Littleton complex on King Street.

The man admitted the drone was his and said he fell through the ice but was able to get out. He was not charged.
“We are thankful that no one was injured and no lives were lost from this incident,” Police Chief Matthew King said in a statement. “The resident could have fared a lot worse had the water been deeper.”

Fire Chief Scott Wodzinski offered a common-sense warning:
“Do not risk your life attempting to get anything off the ice.”
