Local Woman Spreads The Word About Alternative Chinese Healing Practice
Westford's Aiteen Zhang hopes to help people better heal themselves through the art of Longevitology.
One local woman has undertaken a personal crusade to help spread better health through a Chinese alternative medical practice most people have probably never heard of.
Westford resident Aiteen Zhang might look like any other person at first, but she is quickly becoming one of the leading voices in the U.S for “Chang Sheng Xue”(长生学), which roughly translated from Mandarin means “Study of Long Life,” but is better known in English as “Longevitology.”
Practitioners describe Longevitology as an alternative healing method that helps its practitioners better channel energy through their bodies. However, Zhang notes that the practice, which involves experts opening key points on a person’s body known as Chakras, doesn’t truly heal anything on its own. Instead, when done properly, the Longevitology advocates say those who practice the art can help heal themselves more effectively.

“We don’t call it healing, we call it making adjustments,” says Zhang. “And once a student’s chakras are open, those adjustments can be done in any time or any place and aid with many ailments ranging from stomach aches to liver problems.”
Zhang has brought two world renowned Longevitology experts Lin Tzu-Chen and Wei Yu-Feng to Westford multiple times to help open the Chakras of new Longevitology students, most recently last week at the Westford Regency as one of the last American stops on their international tour before heading to England.

Unlike the two recently visiting masters, Zhang does not have the expertise to open chakras on her own, but she states that she is well into the more than a decade long process toward becoming a master herself.
When not spreading the word about Longevitology, she helps those who have had their chakras opened with weekly adjustment sessions at her home and the that have had a small, but dedicated core of followers in the past.
“Nearly everyone who has come for adjustments has said that their impressions were overwhelmingly positive,” said Zhang. “We don’t publicize it very much, so usually the people who come were told by word of mouth from others who benefitted from the experience.”
