Making The Mark: Westford Closes School Year With Flurry Of Activity

WA NAHS Students and the Memory Project
Students from the Westford Academy chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) recently participated in The Memory Project, an project that unites art and community service.

WA art students created portraits for children and teens around the world that have been orphaned, neglected, or disadvantaged with the goal of the project is to inspire caring, global friendship, and a positive sense of self.
The following students participated in this project: Delia Sanders, Alexis McAuliffe, Ana Raso, Katy Pietras, Mary Boutet, Chiraag Lathia, Elizabeth Britton, Mindy Zhang, Sarah Mooieweer, Brian Cummins, Sophia Lin, Jiexin Wang, Heather Denison, and Theresa Yuan.

The students’ portraits as well as photographs of the children receiving their portraits will be on display at the Millennium School from May through September.
Trip opens to WA Students for Summer 2012
Any students looking to explore new places while hiking, whitewater rafting and traveling throughout the wilderness of Wyoming may be interested in heading to the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks next summer.
The fourth such expedition planned from WA, the trip will take place a week after the end of the 2011-2012 school year, with reservation commitments required during the next few months.

Meteorologist Speaks At Day School Field day
WBZ TV meteorology Joe Joyce stopped by the Day School Field Day event on Wednesday, May 25th to speak about a variety of weather related topics.
For his time, Joe was given a Day School t-shirt, pen, and photographed stationary.
Day Elementary students Karen Corbett and Bhoomi Soni sang the National Anthem while Alexis Genna and Ryan Bowen led the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance to start the day, which would not have been possible without the help of over 50 parent/teacher volunteers.
Blanchard Middle School
Community Day observed at Blanchard Middle School
Tuesday, May 24 was observed as Community Day at Blanchard Middle School, an event sponsored by the Student Council to foster greater community service among the student body.
In supporting the theme of "Building a Caring Community", each grade was in charge of a different community project. Sixth graders worked on projects based on the MSPCA, 7th graders worked on beautification projects around the school, and 8th graders worked on projects in support of the U.S. troops. Profits from the sale of special t-shirts commemorating the event will be divided three ways: The Katie Enos Scholarship Fund, the Organ Donor Bank, and Water for our World.
