Meet Vik the Viking

Nashoba Valley Technical High School's mascot comes to life.

September begins a new year at , but it will also begin a new era.

At the opening of school this fall, students of Nashoba Valley Technical High School will be welcomed by their teacher as well as school mascot “Vik the Viking”, who will be making something of a debut this fall.

School officials are excited that the mascot has “come to life” through the school’s purchase of a Viking costume which will be an embodiment of school spirit and the mascot.

Until recently, the school’s mascot was a Viking in the form of a drawing.

According to faculty member Zach O’Steen, “Vik the Viking” will help give a school presence at the many local community activities which Nashoba Valley Technical High School participates in such as the Apple Blossom Festival Parade here in Westford.

In an ongoing effort to boost school spirit, the mascot will make appearances at the school pep rallies as well as club and athletic activities.

Students from the school’s Key Club, a Kiwanis Club service organization for high school students, will be the caretakers of the mascot with members rotating to wear the costume at events.

The school services students from Westford, Chelmsford, Groton, Littleton, Pepperell, Shirley and Townsend.
